How to remove skunk smell from your pet

Forget tomato juice. All that does is make the dog and the whole five mile radius of your house stink. Veterinarian Gary Ryder suggests 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and 1 tablespoon dish soap such as Dawn. Allow the mixture to rest on your dog ten to fifteen minutes. The dish soap is important to breaking down a skunk’s oil based spray. Even if the pet got sprayed in the eye, simply rinse it out with saline solution or artifrical eye wash. (more…)

Grain-Free Mythology

Recently the Food and Drug Administration found sixteen brands of dog food that are linked to heart disease. To name a few brands includes: Acana, Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, Fromm, and many more. Heart condition corelates to heart failure that can be traced to a genetic component. Unfortuantely studies suggest that golden retrievers are most prone to developing heart disease from these grain free dog foods. (more…)

Why do we even have dogs?

You lean back in your chain full as a tick. You simply cannot eat another bite because you suppose you’ll explode. Figuratively speaking. Then you remember there’s so many starving and hungry people in this world, you don’t want to waste your food. Suddenly, you feel a slight brush of a paw on your knee and turn to look into big, brown, hopeful eyes. Ah yes, you don’t have to feel guilty; you just give your table scraps to the family dog.
